Regional set-aside of suballocated STBG funds to improve transportation safety and/or to improve or expand active transportation options including walking, bicycling, and public transportation use. Funds will be awarded through competitive call-for-projects following plan adoption or through periodic TIP amendments intended to address cost overruns on ongoing safety or multimodal projects. Funding can be used to implement a stand-alone project or supplement an existing project to ensure the inclusion of non-motorized modes (e.g., adding sidewalks to a road widening project). Funds can be used for planning or implementation.
